Antique Recipe is the largest online platform dedicated to preserving and sharing old family recipes. Our mission is to safeguard the culinary traditions that have been passed down through generations, ensuring that these treasured recipes are never lost to time.
Our History
The inspiration for Antique Recipe came from a collection of recipes from Great Aunt Mildred. These culinary treasures had been forgotten for decades, only to be rediscovered during a moment of family reflection. Rather than discarding these priceless pieces of history, they were shared with the world, sparking the creation of Antique Recipe.
Our very first recipe, a time-honored pecan pie from Great Aunt Mildred, symbolizes the essence of what we aim to preserve. This recipe, along with countless others, forms the foundation of our extensive collection, each one a testament to the rich tapestry of our culinary past.

Imperial Sugar
Sugar Land, Texas

Imperial Sugar, established in 1883 in Sugar Land, Texas, is a historic company deeply rooted in the region’s development. Founded by Edwin J. Williams, the company capitalized on the area’s fertile soil and favorable climate for sugarcane cultivation, rapidly growing into a significant economic force. Sugar Land’s name itself reflects its connection to the sugar industry. Throughout the early 20th century, Imperial Sugar played a pivotal role in shaping the local economy, driving industrial growth, and fostering community development.
Today, the factory stands as a landmark in Sugar Land, symbolizing the city’s rich industrial heritage. Although it is no longer operational as a sugar refinery, its iconic structures, including tall smokestacks and distinctive brick buildings, have been preserved and repurposed for new functions.
The preservation of the factory’s architecture honors Sugar Land’s historical roots and provides a tangible link to the city’s past. The site now serves as a testament to the enduring legacy of the sugar industry in the region and remains a focal point of community pride and historical reflection in Sugar Land.
Imperial Sugar’s current pecan pie recipe is available on their website here. If Great Aunt Mildred marked the recipe with “Very Good,” you can be sure it’s exceptional! As Imperial Sugar puts it, “You know the recipe is good when it’s on the package!”
